Caterpillar has unveiled a series of design enhancements for the latest models of the Cat PM300 cold planer series, including the PM310, PM312, and PM313. These updates aim to improve machine performance, operator comfort, and milling capabilities. The Cat PM300 series is ideal for small to medium-scale applications that require a compact, highly mobile machine with high production capacity.
Enhanced Engine Performance
The latest Cat PM300 models are equipped with the Cat C9.3B engine, which delivers increased peak torque and total power. With a total power output of 256 kW (343 hp), the Cat C9.3B engine is available in configurations that comply with U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, Korea Stage V, and Brazil MAR-1 (equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIA) emission standards.
The Cat C9.3B engine features reduced complexity, with improvements to the electronic, fuel, and air systems. The engine oil filter is now easier to access, simplifying maintenance tasks, while the multi-cartridge engine filter reduces waste and lowers replacement costs.
Upgrades in Performance and Comfort
The latest design updates for the Cat PM300 series include a redesigned transition apron between the main conveyor and the loading conveyor, improving material containment and reducing buildup on the front frame. Enhanced sealing on the right side plate, chamber-to-conveyor seal, and loading conveyor seal further improves material containment. The front track guard, located in front of the drive motor, provides additional protection against debris impact and buildup, extending the machine’s lifespan.
Operators can now track the cutting edge from either side of the machine, thanks to the addition of adjustable screen guide lines on the left-side camera. Ground personnel can also control obstacle crossing capabilities from the rear ground control, improving milling efficiency.
The Cat PM310, PM312, and PM313 models come equipped with wide-range LED work lights and LED road lights, enhancing safety and visibility during milling and site transportation. The exhaust deflector can be stowed when not in use, directing exhaust fumes away from buildings and ground personnel, thereby improving the working environment. The optional dust collection duct has been redesigned to further enhance sealing and suction.
Improved Operator Environment
The updates to the Cat PM300 series also focus on improving the operator’s working conditions. The redesigned conveyor seals allow for greater material capacity and reduce buildup, while the enhanced sealing systems ensure a cleaner and more efficient operation. The addition of LED lighting and adjustable camera features further enhances operator visibility and control.
